We're committed to quality and safety, which is why we've developed a thorough process to create our baby products. If a formula fails any step within the process, we go back to the drawing board. It's how we assure we are developing the most gentle baby products for the most delicate skin.
Sourcing raw materials
Safe products start with safe raw materials. That is why we thoroughly vet every supplier and only accept materials from vendors that meet our rigorous quality and safety standards.
Assessing ingredients
The ingredients we receive must be assessed and meet the requirements for safe use in personal care products. We dig below the surface to evaluate impurities and review the latest findings from personal care, food and medicine studies.
Clinical evaluation & testing
Once we create product formulas, we test them with volunteers in a lab setting. Our experts test for every likely issue, including skin and eye irritation. As a result, our safety database includes information on a wide variety of formula reactions that help inform every new formula we make.
Real life use
We test for ways real consumers use our baby products to ensure we provide a delightful usage experience. That starts with actually checking with you! We also test our products in the lab under many scenarios - extreme heat, cold, humidity and more - to triple-check safety, consistency, and quality.
Ongoing evaluation
Even when our finished product is available in your local store, our work isn't done. In addition to watching for new information, we listen to your feedback, whether it's via a customer service call or a social media comment, and make updates when necessary, so that every product we make meets your expectations.

Preservatives are an essential part of baby and beauty personal care products. Without them, everyday products you have come to rely on could expire within weeks or even days. We only use preservatives with decades of safe use and support from the FDA and the American College of Toxicology

Our scents & fragrances
We hold our gentle fragrances to high standards before adding them to our products. We have set our standards so high that less than 25%* of the aroma compounds used in fragranced consumer products meet them. Plus, our formulators have designed each special blend of fragrances to create memorable experiences and minimize fragrance allergens and irritants. Our formulas are allergy tested to ensure gentleness on babies' delicate skin.

Healthy babies rely on a healthy planet
Johnson’s® Baby is making significant strides in enhancing its sustainability efforts, particularly though innovative packaging solutions. With our commitment to lowering usage of virgin plastic1, our lotions and washes are made with 50% post-recycled plastic (PCR). Johnson’s® Baby will continue transitioning our packaging to more sustainable solutions, ensuring we meet consumer expectations, drive our Healthy Lives Mission forward: to advance the wellbeing of people and the planet.

Our certifications
UL ECOLOGO® Certified products are verified for reduced environmental impact. The ECOLOGO Standards set metrics for a wide variety of criteria in some or all the following categories: product formulations that are free of dangerous chemicals, commitments to reduce animal testing and the product's impact on health and the environment.
