Based on excerpts from Baby Basics: the essential guide for new parents from JOHNSON?S® and the Skin Maturation Study conducted by JOHNSON'S®.
What would we do without diapers? They certainly come in handy, but they do have a small downside?diaper rash. Diaper rash is a very common condition. In fact, nearly all babies develop it at one point or another, so don't let yourself feel guilty if your baby develops diaper rash. It doesn't mean you're not doing a wonderful job caring for your baby.
Keep your baby happy and his bottom healthy
- Change diapers frequently, avoiding prolonged contact to wet or soiled diapers. Use a period at the end of each to be consistent.
- Apply a diaper rash ointment, such as DESITIN® Maximum Strength Original Paste or DESITIN® Rapid Relief Cream, to create a barrier against wetness and irritants, and to help treat diaper rash. In a clinical study, 9 out of 10 babies treated with DESITIN® got noticeable relief within12 hours. You may also want to leave your baby's diaper off for a short time to allow your baby's skin to dry.
- If your child's skin has blisters or open sores, is severely red, or does not respond to diaper rash treatments, call your pediatrician. A prescription medicine may be required. Use a period here since you used periods at the end of other bullets.
